Right next to the beautiful park of Drents Friese Wold lies the holiday park of De Roggeberg (The Rye Mountain). In this pristine area you can go for endless walks and bicycle trips. On some you can find traditional sheep herds that contribute to the management of the heathland area. A special experience is a trip on the Aekinger Sands, one of the largest drift-sand areas in Europe. At the center is a water play area for children up to 10 years of age (open when the outside temperature exceeds 20 degrees). All guests of The Rye Mountain have free access to the magnificent pool of Appelscha that is right next to our center. This forest pool has a unique water playground. At times our guests have free access to the Boekhorst indoor swimming pool in nearby Oosterwolde. Other facilities include a restaurant, snack bar, supermarket and a large recreation room.

Note: Between the 27th of October 2014 and the 27th of March 2015 the Restaurant will be open only on Sunday afternoons. During the Christmans & Spring holiday the Restaurant will be open for 7 days a week.
