Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Kempen in Reusel is a modern three-star hotel whose doors only recently opened in May 2009. It has a wonderful location in the heart of the Brabant's De Kempen, in the middle of the Dutch and Belgian border. The De Kempen region is known for its woodland where visitors can walk and cycle to their hearts' content. The hotel is the perfect starting point for these activities. But a trip to the nearby friendly towns of Tilburg, Eindhoven and Antwerp is also easily made. The three-star hotel with its 34 rooms, restaurant, bar and terrace is an unusually sustainable building. Its roof is entirely covered by solar panels providing the hotel with all its energy needs. Excess energy is even sold to the municipality. Heat production and recovery mean that this is a very eco-friendly hotel. The advantage is also seen in the costs, which are very low for gas, water and light. Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Kempen is well placed in the Fletcher Hotels sustainability strategy. After an active day, relax in the charming restaurant. Hotel will make sure that you enjoy everything, from the delicious regional dishes to the friendly service. At the end of the evening, make yourself comfortable in your tastefully decorated, modern room. You can literally see both sides from the Hotel-Restaurant De Kempen! Two roads run along the hotel that brings you to the most beautiful parts of the De Kempen nature reserve. Expansive woods, aromatic heather and winding brooks characterise the area. Apart from its stunning nature, the area is loved for its charming Brabant villages. Not for nothing is there a group of eight villages known under the name 'Acht zaligheden', 'the eight beatitudes'. The use of the name 'zaligheden' is derived from 'sel', short for 'selligheden' in old Dutch or 'zaligheden' today, by which the names of seven of the eight villages end. Reusel is thus one of these eight villages. Reusel itself has a few sights, such as the neo-gothic cross shaped basilica, Onze Lieve Vrouw Tenhemelopneming (the beloved lady of the ascension), on Kerkplein. Or take a stroll through the Deken van der Wee Park, a small but pretty park where an enormous beech tree grows. Near Reusel are the beautiful nature parks De Reuselse Moeren and De Grote en Kleine Cirkel. A walk in these areas is certainly worthwhile. Should you wish for culture or shopping, then you could visit Turnhout (18 km), Tilburg (25 km), Eindhoven (28 km), or Antwerp (65 km). If you are staying at the hotel with children, you will make them very happy with a visit to the theme park Attractiepark Bobbejaanland, only a 15 minute drive away.
