Over Casa Corenno

The house is located in the medieval village of Corenno Plinio, in the municipality of Dervio, which overlooks Lake Como, in Lombardy. This is an apartment of 100 square meters inside Villa Candiani, an historic building dating back to the seventeenth century and renovated in 2012. Corenno Plinio is one of the one hundred most beautiful villages in Italy, characterized by buildings of stone and buildings in style, dominated by the castle. Candiani Villa overlooking the ancient square, a few meters away from the castle and the church dedicated to the Bishop of Canterbury, St. Thomas Becket. Consecrated in 1365, it was ordained parish in 1566 and subsequently enlarged and renovated. Some studies have brought back to the light the remains of ancient frescoes of the Lombard school dating back to the XIV - XV centuries. On the façade, on the flanks of the entrance, you can admire the sepulchral monuments of the feudal lords of Corenno. Some artworks, attributed to the XIV century masters of the town of Campione, are rich in sculptural elements, which have a religious symbolism of particular interest. The castle, with walls crowned by battlements that protected the patrol path, can be dated back to a period between 1360 and 1370 and is a typical example of a castle-yard, or rather a fortification built as a refuge for the population in case of attack. The material used for the construction, follows the standards of 'opus gallicus, and mainly consists in rocks excavated on site or retrieved on the shore of the lake. The castle has two towers, one of them is that kind known as Sailing Tower and  is located above the only entrance facing the town, and the other one, square-shaped, is located in the north-east side. Candiani Villa is 80 meters away from the lake and at a distance of 50 meters from the âSentiero del Viandanteâ(=the âPath of the Wandererâ), the historic cobblestone street winding through the mountains of Lake Como. The area is very quiet and fresh thanks to the air coming by the lake.
