You can enjoy the sun going down from your terrace, with views across the estates, or perhaps relax on the seat which can be found underneath the hundred year old chestnut tree in front of the complex, daydreaming about long forgotten times. Veenhuizen, situated in the North of Drenthe at Friesland's border, isn't purely famous because of its beautiful nature, but also as a result of its rich history. Veenhuizen's history is still evident everywhere; during a visit to the 'Tuinen van Weldadigheid' (Gardens of Benevolence), 'Bitter en Zoet' (Bitter and Sweet) and 'Het Gevangenismuseum' (The Prison Museum). Visits to the Verweij Goldsmith, the Drenthe Museum, the Groningen Museum or Museum Belvédere Oranjewoude also come highly recommended.
