Domaine de Romefort lies five minutes from the medieval pilgrimage site of St Leonard de Noblat. This town, as well as Domaine de Romefort, are situated along the centuries-old pilgrimage route to St Jacques de Compostela Ella (Spain) and Rome. The origin of the word refers to Rome (Fort Romaeus) and fort, a solid and secure place to protect pilgrims (Roman Catholic). Domaine de Romefort lies in the region of the Haute Vienne (just above the Dordogne) and is 20 kilometers from the city of Limoges. This area is ideal for hikers and families who love nature (this is a great place, for example, for family reunions). Domaine de Romefort is an old farm which has been transformed into 11 luxurious cottages. The environment is very diverse, green and hilly and the views from here are simply magnificent! Around the 28 hectares lie woods where you can take a walking tour of one hour. Along this route you can find places to rest or have something to eat. On the east side of Romefort you will find the extensive area around Lac de Vassiviere. This lake comprises 10 square kilometers and provides the opportunity to enjoy a number of water sports. The forests in the immediate surroundings are ideal for hiking and mountain biking. 15 minutes away (by car) there is a recreational lake which has a beach with lifeguards and a space for a variety of activities. Along the field lies the Vienne River which is suitable for canoeing. Along the river you will see many watermills that are still in use.
