Originally built as a fortress in the second half of the 13thcentury, it was reconstructed twice in different centuries, to eventually become this splendid, Tudor gothic style palace with a wonderful, English style park. The famous brewery of Budvar (Budweiser) has its head office in the town of České Budějovice, not far from your holiday accommodation. Don't miss to pay a visit to the brewery, who have been in court for some years with an American company, concerning the rights of the brand Budweiser. Nevertheless, in the Czech Republic every child knows, that Budvar is the Czech word for Budweiser and that it's the second largest brewery of the country, after Pilsener Urquell. In the centre of České Budějovice, near the market square, you will find the Black Tower (with nine floors), which is the landmark of the town and from where you'll enjoy an amazing view onto the town.
